Licensing approvals submitted

License applications submitted

For the new licensing period beginning January 1, 2025, the Swiss Casinos Group submitted five license applications and one license extension application for it’s online casino to the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (SFGB). The SFGB will now inspect all submitted applications. Swiss Casinos will receive notice on the Federal Council’s decision in October 2023.

On October 20, Swiss Casinos submitted applications for five casino locations.

The flagship location of the Swiss Casinos Group has been located in the former Haus Ober in the center of Zurich since 2012. During this time, it has had superb development and recorded approximately 360,000 visitors each year – it’s now impossible to imagine the city without it.

The casino in the city, not far from the Olma, is excellently integrated and economically successful, despite significant competition from Liechtenstein. It is to remain at this location and will continue to play a part in the cultural, sporting and social life in and around St. Gallen.

In Pfäffikon, we were able to acquire space for a new casino in the district of Halten and want to shape the area’s future with a timeless, elegant casino – together with the online casino.

Our most modern casino is to be located directly on the A1 in the Campfield commercial center and will be equipped with a hotel, restaurant and numerous services, including electric fueling stations and digital check-in. Located at the “crossroads of Switzerland”, it will explore the topic of mobility and will enrich the region’s entertainment offerings.

From an empty industrial warehouse to a casino with industrial character and lots of charm – that’s the idea behind our newest casino project. We’re implementing it in the vacant “Halle Rapide”, once a production site for railway cars, in the Lokstadt district. Today, the Swiss Casinos Group runs four casinos and is Switzerland’s market leader. In Zurich, St. Gallen and Pfäffikon, the Group has long shown that it can run successful and sustainable casinos with experienced and qualified staff. With experts from Schaffhausen and the Group, the two new casinos in Winterthur and Oftringen will also be led with the same quality.

Various market competitors invigorate the market and compel us to give our best. Swiss Casinos has decided to submit a license application in Oftringen. Although it is located in the canton of Aargau, for the licensing process it is assigned to the Basel casino zone. Our calculations show that with a casino in Oftringen, we would be filling in an empty spot on the map and could operate a profitable casino there, which would expand the entertainment offerings for the population of the entire region.

The casino business carries risks – we’re well aware of that. For one thing, the transparency and security of the gambling can at no point be even somewhat jeopardized. Our credo is that our gambling and security processes should be regularly scrutinized, reviewed and redesigned so that we can eliminate all risks. Our second significant duty lies in player protection, which we take extremely seriously. Using prudent approaches and technical and personal support, we take care that gambling is always entertaining and takes place within financial limits. We perform this duty day after day with great dedication.

We’re aware of our societal and social responsibility. Our employees see us as an appreciative, socially responsible and reliable employer. At our locations, we demonstrate that we are a reliable partner with long-term engagement in cultural, athletic and social projects. And last but not least, we have been a climate-neutral business since 2022.

For casinos, licenses are proof of public trust in the business. We are immensely grateful for the great trust that we have received over the past 20 years and thank the responsible authorities, and above all the SFGB, for their strict yet active and transparent cooperation.
